La Rêveuse, founded by  Benjamin Perrot et Florence Bolton, is a chamber music ensemble whose members are all soloists, and whose aim is to bring back to life selected works of the XVIIth century and XVIIIth centuries, that effervescent age so rich in artistic experiments and inventions of all sorts. By favouring, eloquence, the mastery of the colour and the richness of continuo, the musicians of La Rêveuse wish to convey to audiences the rhetorical, spiritual and poetic force of this repertoire.

La Rêveuse has attracted favourable attention with its concerts in France (notably at Les Concerts Parisiens, La Folle Journée de Nantes, the Musée de la Musique in Paris, and the festivals of Sablé sur Sarthe and Simiane La Rotonde), and also appears abroad, with visits to the UK, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan and Egypt, among others. It was an associate ensemble of the Musiques en Lieux Festival (Meuse, France) in 2004 & 2005, of the Musique & Mémoire Festival (Haute Saône, France) in 2005 and 2006. The group also works regularly in co-production with Benjamin Lazar’s Théâtre de l’Incrédule (notably on L’Autre Monde ou Les Estats & Empires de la Lune by Savinien Cyrano de Bergerac, which was crowned with success at the Théâ- tre de l’Athénée in Paris in April 2008).

The ensemble's first two recordings were dedicated to English music of the second half of the seventeenth century: The Theater of Musick (Matthew Locke/Henry Purcell, Music for the London Theatres - K617, 2006) and Cease, Anxious World (songs and chamber music by Henry Purcell – Mirare, 2008).

In 2011 a highlight of the activity of La Rêveuse will be the first performance of a new stage production, the Arabian Nights adapted from Antoine Galland's early 18th century translation of the original text, with the actress and director Louise Moaty. La Rêveuse will also providing the music for a production of Molière's Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, directed by Catherine Hiegel with François Morel in the part of Monsieur Jourdain (CADO - Orleans and Théâtre de la Porte St Martin - Paris). Last but not least, a recording of lesser known works by Sébastien de Brossard will be released by Mirare in April 2011.
