Music from the Monastery of St. Catherine

Founded in 548, this incomparable treasure nestled on Mount Sinai has not only the greatest collection of ancient icons that survived the ravages of the iconoclasts, it has a powerful and haunting musical tradition performed by the Cappella in this exclusive concert, prepared in honor of two exhibitions:
--at the J. Paul Getty Museum, "Holy Space, Hollowed Ground: Icons from Sinai" (including the rare icon of the Three Holy Youths in the Furnace, related to one of the works on the program)
--and the exhibition "In the Beginning: Bibles before the Year 1000" (including the renowned 4th century Codex Sinaiticus).
