PROGRAM SCHEDULES 2004 > APRIL 2004
Millennium of Music
April 2004 Schedule

#04-15: 04/05/04
The Passion of Christ: With the emphasis on this part of the story of the life of Jesus since the recent film, we turn to early musical sources that evoke the Passion. Easter marks the beginning of the 25th season of the program.

#04-16: 04/12/04
The Passion of Christ--the Eastern Church: Music perhaps closer to the spirit of the world of the historical Judea resonates in the Orthodox liturgy; we'll track sources for the first millennium of extant eastern music.

#04-17: 04/19/04
The Passion of Christ--the Medieval Story: The earliest expanded (and in the case of liturgical drama, performed) services for the Passion evoke the restless, expansive, and imaginative medieval mind. We'll illustrate the roots of modern theatre and polyphony in medieval evocations of the Passion.

#04-18: 04/26/04
Philippe de Monte at Utrecht, Part 4: Continuing the theme of the influence of this great Franco-Flemish composer from the 2003 Holland Festival of Early Music at Utrecht, this week we hear the Trinity Baroque illustrate de Monte's influence on the English composer William Byrd.
