This week, we preview the Istanbul International Music Festival 2005, with performances of Elizabethan and Jacobean consort music by the international viol ensemble Phantasm.

Continuing our preview of the 2005 Istanbul Festival, we
trace the evolution of the early Baroque vocal duet and madrigal styles with the ensemble Il Complesso Barocco directed by Alan Curtis.

Maundy Thursday and Good Friday:
After a return pilgrimage to the Benedictine Abbey of Chevetogne in Belgium, we have brought back a stunning new body of recordings, as this unique group continues its mission of uniting the ancient division between western & eastern Christianity through musical service.

La Fenice at Utrecht:
This ensemble has specialized in music centering on one of the themes for the Holland Early Music Festival at Utrecht for 2004--the evolution of the Italian Baroque. This concert takes us through the early 17th century vocal and instrumental styles.
#05-14: 3/28/05:
Three Medieval Discs:
We share three fine new recordings--the Ensemble Micrologus peformance of the Play of Robin and Marion; the Newberry Consort celebrates the Medieval Italian repertory; and the Early Music America 2004 award-winning ensemble Asteria with chansons from the Burgundian court of Philip the Good.
