Millennium of Music September and October 2008 Schedule
#08-37: 09/01/08--Chant: Music for the Soul Part 1--This compilation of Gregorian (and Cistercian!) chant from the Cistercian monks of Stift Heiligenkreuz debuted at #1 on the Billboard Classical chart. It will be featured in a special two-part show to kick off Millennium's 2008/2009 season.
#08-38: 09/08/08--Chant: Music for the Soul Part 2--Part 2 of this series examining this new disc and a history of Cistercian chant on disc guided by Fanfare magazine early music critic Fr. Jerome Weber.
#08-39: 09/15/08--New from ECM--New releases include the great Hilliard Ensemble returning to their core repertoire of early English vocal music; and former Hilliard member John Potter is back with his latest in the Dowland project series, an unusual compilation entitled Romaria.
#08-40: 09/22/08--The Divine Liturgy in English--The huge Orthodox conference in Washington in the summer of 2008 was the site of this huge two-CD project by the Cappella Romana, featuring the official English translation of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, employing the sanctioned translation of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain.
#08-41: 09/29/08--Scotland Forever--Two recent releases from long-time program regulars: John Potter & Red Byrd with "A Scottish Lady Mass: Sacred Music from Medieval St. Andrews"; and Sylvain Bergeron and La Nef with "The Battle of Killicrankie--Love & War Songs from Scotland."

#08-42: 10/06/08--Utendal & De Monte: The recent project from the Ministry of Flemish Culture with the Capilla Flamenca of Flemish Composers Phillippe de Monte (1521-1603) and Alexander Utendal (1530/40-1581)
#08-43: 10/13/08--Jean de Castro: Capilla Flamenca in a performance of Flemish-born Jean de Castro (c. 1540/45-c.1600), a Hapsburg composer sent to Spain (and his compatriots), supported by the University of Leuven.
#08-44: 10/20/08--Missa Ego sum qui sum: The rarely-heard works of the later Flemish composer Philippe Rogier (c.1561-1596), stunningly rediscovered by Philip Cave and his ensemble Magnificat.
#08-45: 10/27/08--Missa Ultimi miei sospiri : The new recording by the Cinquecento ensemble of the Missa Ultimi miei sospiri and motets of Mechelen-born Philippe de Monte.
