September 2010

#10-37: 9/06/10--Art of Love--Inspired by David Munrow's "Art of Courtly Love" recording from many years ago., jazz conductor Robert Sadin decided to explore Guillaume de Machaut. This week, we sample the results.

#10-38: 9/13/10--Three from Mignarda--We come back to the upstate New York duo with three recent discs: "La Rota Fortuna" (music in honor of Spinacino); "Au pres de Vous" (French 16th century chansons); and "Harmonia Caelestis" (16th c. sacred Spanish repertory).

#10-39: 9/20/10--Van Varen en Vechten--Which means "of sailing and fighting," gives the recent effort from our Dutch friends the Camerata Trajectina a good jumping off point for a program of sea shanties of the Dutch East India Company.

#10-40: 9/27/10--Vox Patris Caelestis--The Rutgers Collegium Musicum are back with the huge motet by William Mundy that titles the disc, plus the Missa Euge bone by Christopher Tye and works by Tallis, Shepppard and Taverner.
