Spotlight on the Netherlands
 
We continue our long and fruitful association with our partners at Radio Netherlands in presenting a series of concerts from the 2011 Holland Festival of Early Music at Utrecht. We will also direct listeners to their web site, which will provide more in-depth information about the music and performers we hear as well as more information about the festival:

 #12-05: 01/23/12 --Mala Punica and the 14th century--Pedro Memelsdorff's ensemble has made a great specialty of music from this troubled time; this week, the Ars Nova in Rome.

--Huelgas Ensemble: Rome in Multiples--Paul van Nevel and his group present some of the lesser-known Roman composers: Animuccia, Anerio, Agazzari, and Michelangelo Rossi.

 #12-07: 02/06/12 --The Holland Baroque Society--A tribute to the greatest and most influential composer of the Roman Baroque, Arcangelo Corelli.

 #12-08: 02/13/12 --Les Talens Lyriques and the New Oratorio Style--Christophe Rousset's wonderful ensemble gives us the Italian early Baroque splendor of works by Carissimi and a gem  by Charpentier.
 
#12-09: 02/20/12 --Concerto Palatino: Palestrina and Frescobaldi--More motets from Palestrina and the less-often heard sacred works by Girolamo Frescobaldi.

#12-10: 02/27/12 --The Secular 16th century--A group of composers of dance and song on the lighter side of the century (works by Dalza, Tromboncino, Mainero, Patavino, etc.)..

#12-11: 03/05/12 --Easter in the Sistine Chapel--The superb Brabant Ensemble gives us the grand (and rarely-recorded) Palestrina Mass Ad coenam agni providi.
