NOTE: All of the music on this program is from the recent release of music of Roland de Lassus with the Cardinall's Musick directed by Andrew Carwood on the ASV Gaudeamus label, CD # GAU 310.
Unlike Palestrina, Lassus never collected his settings of The Song of Songs (Canticum Canticorum) in one publication--this is the first time a disc has united this many of the motets inspired by this Song of Solomon together. The major work on the disc is the mass based on Lassus' motet Surge propera.
