Program: #93-29🎁 Air Date: Jul 19, 1993
The troubadours of 12th century France were the first Europeans to sing lyric poetry in the language of the people. Witty and sophisticated, these virtuoso poet-singers celebrated the new ideal of courtly love. The Folger Consort, in a live performance from the Folger Shakespeare Library, demonstrates that not much has changed in the battle between the sexes, though eight centuries have passed! (Repeated from February, 1993)
