While we think of Renaissance music as either in courts or cathedrals, villages or country churches, the invention of printing allowed the rising middle classes of prosperous German towns to acquire and perform the first music printed with moveable type and generally available. This week, the Folger Consort recreates a time of dance, song, and celebration in honor of the autumn festival we still call 'Oktoberfest."
