Program: #03-02   Air Date: Jan 13, 2003

00:00

On the heels of the recording of a lowland manuscript containing English music (heard last fall on our Belgian series), this week we hear The Clerk's Group with an Italian manuscript of featuring music by the great lowlands composer Guillaume Dufay.

Preservation of this program is made possible by a generous grant from Ralph Smith.

NOTE: All of the music on this program is from the recording Guillaume Dufay: Sacred music from Bologna Q15, and is performed by The Clerks' Group conducted by Edward Wickham. The CD is on the Signum label, and is number SIGCD023. Dufay was born in Berselle in 1397 and returned to Cambrai (in Hainaut), where he died in 1474.

The program is sponsored in part by the Belgian Tourist Office and the Embassy of Belgium in Washington, D.C. For more information on visiting Belgium, you may contact the Belgian Tourist Office at: www.visitbelgium.com.
